Donation Policy

Churchill County Parks and Recreation Department
Donation Policy

Cash gifts or donation will be deposited in the Churchill County Parks and Recreation Donation Fund to be expended at the discretion of the Parks and Recreation Director, unless designated by the donor.  Cash donations that are given for a designated use, must be presented to the Churchill County Park and Recreation Commission at their monthly board meeting for approval.

Materials received as gifts will be evaluated by the same criteria as materials purchased; nothing will be added simply because it is free.  Donations are final and become the property of the Churchill County Parks and Recreation.  The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to dispose of unneeded materials.  No dollar amount will be assigned to material donations by Parks and Recreation staff.  However, they will sign for a receipt of a donation if a list is prepared by the donor and presented when the gift is received.

When another entity other than Parks and Recreation is soliciting any contribution for Parks and Recreation, care must be exerted in providing full and complete disclosure as to what entity is seeking contributions and how those monies are to be utilized. As an example, if “Friends of Parks and Recreation” is sponsoring an event, proper disclosure may be as follows:

“This event is sponsored by Friends of Parks and Recreation. All monies raised by
Friends of Parks and Recreation from this event, shall be donated to the Churchill
County Parks and Recreation Department for the Soda Lake Equestrian Trailhead
             fund.”

Friends of Parks and Recreation is used only as an example. This will apply to any entity the Parks and Recreation Department partners with when seeking donations or contributions.

Any solicitation of donations or contributions made by any entity on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department must not implicitly or explicitly imply that the Churchill County Parks and Recreation Department is requesting the funds. Funds obtained by any such entity are the sole responsibility of that organization and will not be co-mingled with the Parks and Recreation’s budget. The Parks and Recreation Director is instructed to ensure this policy is followed.
